Japanese Introductions
July 20th 2007 05:22
This section will tell you how to best introduce yourself to another person, in Japanese.
First thing you say is hello - konnichi wa.
The next thing to do is to introduce yourself. I'll go into first person pronouns in a second, but I'll just give the basics for now.
If you are a young male you introduce yourself by saying "Boku wa (your name)."
Any one else, can say "Watashi wa (your name)."
はじめ| 14;して (Hajimemashite) is an incredibly useful term. The phrase literally means 'let's begin' and is used after introducing yourself to a new person, and indicates the beginning of your relations. The best way to think of the phrase is as 'how do you do'.
e.g
こんに{ 85;は Konichi Wa.
こんに{ 85;は Konichi Wa.
わたしz 88;は Dr Spin. はじめ| 14;して. Watashi Wa Dr Spin. Hajimemashite.
はじめ| 14;して. わたしz 88;は さちこ Hajimemashite. Watashi wa Sachiko.
