Counting to Ten in Japanese

One. Ichi. 一

Two. Ni. 二

Three. San. 三

Four. Shi, or Yon. Can be pronounced in either way, depending on the context. 四

Five. Go. 五

Six. Roku. 六

Seven. Nana or Shichi, depending on the context. 七

Eight. Hachi. 八

Nine. Ku. 九

Ten. Ju. 十

To say a number above ten you say the number of tens and the second number.

Forty-Three - Yon Ju Yon. 十四

Eighteen. Ju Hachi. 十八


This trend continues up. Some other increments.

Hundred - Hyaku. 百

Now you can count in Japanese
