Technically this character is known as Wo, but it is pronounced as o. It is able to be written in Hiragana or Katakana (however this is uncommon). It is also a particle functioning as an object marker.

Hiragana; をえいが　を　みました

Eiga o mimashita.

Eiga is movie. Mimashita is watched.

So Someone watched a movie
